Hey guys, brand new here to the forums and also doing my first build. I have a general idea of what I am looking for, but on some parts I am completely clueless and I am hoping to gain some knowledge before I buy all of the parts. I'm looking for advice or suggestions you could possibly give me and why I should choose what you suggest. This is what I have gathered - hopefully you can tell me if something is better or if I should change it for something else.

CPU - i7-2600k
Motherboard - NO IDEA
Memory - CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 or CORSAIR XMS3 12GB (6 x 2GB) DDR3 1600???
Graphics Card - NO IDEA
Hard Drive - Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
Power Supply - CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-750HX 750W SILVER Certified Modular Active PFC
Case - Antec Lanboy air Blue Black / Blue (Can't decide on case)
CPU cooling - XIGMATEK Intel Core i7 compatible Dark Knight
OS - Win7 Home Premium 64 bit

Motherboard: Get a P8P67 Sabertooth or Deluxe if you have the budget

Video Card: Either a 570 or 580 will do. Or if you like AMD: get a 6950 or 6970.

Case: Dont get the lanboy, I would go for a HAF 932 or something like that.

For the RAM: Just get the 8GB. Dont really need 12.

CPU - nice cpu, but if your primary activity is gaming you can save some money and get a 2500k...
MB - gigabyte p67a for whichever you have the money just make sure its B3 (so the hdd bugs arent possible) ... not really sure whether its better than the asus ones but they are BLACK
Mem - why not corsair vengence? just make sure you have a compatible cpu cooler with it. a mate just got the vengence 2x4G kit and its so pretty
gpu - 6950 or if you need CUDA then 560 (just beacuase openCL sucks so far); the 6950 is cheap and awesome, you can even upgrade it to a 6970
hdd - maybe a 60gig SSD for OS and then the disc you listed for everything else? why ssd, beacuse on my next rig im getting one
psu - id go for the AX 750 or some other low noise psu if you wish to overclock. also realize that a 750 psu will cover for a cpu OC and maybe 2 gpus if not heavily overclocked
case - check out xigmatek cases, they are cheap (at least in my country) and are really nice
Cpu cooling - havent a clue which cooler sry
OS - if you want to game then Win7
