Came on here a while ago asking for OC help and got some helpfull tips. STILL dont have a aftermarket cooler but hopefully will get one for Xmas. Anyway i attached my CPU-Z. Only put it up to 360 FSB. Idle at 35 C and full load is like 60C at the most.. Like while playing FSX for a while. Its usually 58C. First of all, I am wondering if i could put it higher then what i have it at right now without causing any problems. Also I still have my voltage on Auto as i wasnt sure and as you can tell by the attachment. It keeps me around 1.128. Is that ok? If i go any higher. What voltage should i put it on? Thanks in advance guys.
Also attached my Ram page. Very new to this so i want to make sure everything is good.
I wouldnt go any higher than that, since its already hitting 60c on load, Just wait until you get an aftermarket cooler, 4Ghz should be easy then. Is this overclock stable? did you run a torture test on it?
Yup Ran orthos i think its called and was fine. I brought it up to 3.6 just to see the improvement in performance and cant imagine what 4.0 will be like. Thanks
You do have speedstep, c1e, eist disabled? I would try to hold off on any more overclocking as you are pushing 60c at load untill you get some better cooling. Your vcore seams right for a low overclock. Do you have your timmings set and the ram voltage to?
Ok so, I stand corrected. Got a "BSOD" Except the screen wasnt blue, the error afterwords was that it was a blue screen though. Was in FSX and changed some settings when it happened. Sound locked up etc. Thats a bummer... What the usual reasons for crashing when on an OC? I put everything back to auto/stock. This doesnt seem like a new cooler will fix it... I hope my cpu will still be able to OC or maybe its just not a good one
How Should i set my ram? I think i had it on the lowest selection 667 MHZ i think it was.... Is this the selection you are talking about? Is the ram causing the crash? Thanks
Ok, the timmings specs are listed on the side of your ram sticks...example 5.5.5.15 voltage 2.0 /2.1 download cpu-z and open the spd tab.
Edit - forgot you already got cpu-z
Attached a pic of it. I have an identical stick in slot 3, exactly the same as this one. Running in duel channel.
I put it back to stock since i had that crash. If you could tell me exactly what voltage to start at, what FSB to do. ETC That would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if my english is bad. Its not my first language

I agree.

Voltage on an e8400 is usually safe to 1.34v, anything more than that is above what Intel recommends as the max. Just keep it below 1.34v and 60C and you're fine.
and this is neccasary even if PC is not overclocked? As it isnt right now, and am wondering if i should just do all at once, once i have every step i need to do.
