I have read in places that the Opteron chips are mainly made for servers and the such. How would one of these compare in a gaming machine. I either want to get a A64 3700+ or a Opteron 148, both 939 chips. From what i have read which is better is a neverending argument, but which is better for gaming specifically, and for overclocking stability?

Sorry to be so blunt, but....it's true. there's almost no difference..any difference is negligible.

Yeah, pretty much they're A64s made of the best silicon, hence the reason they're used for servers (supposed to be more stable). And because of this, they can often hit higher OCs.

I agree. Get whatever is cheaper...you won't be disappointed either way. If you can somehow find out what stepping you are getting ahead of time would only help....I wish I could sell on here....
