Multiple reports of a coupon code glitch at EA's online Origin store point to an exploit which allowed customers to enter a coupon code and receive $20 off an infinite number of games.

It will be interesting to hear what EA has to say about it.

Update: This is what EA's Origin Community Manager posted on the EA forums. They will honor all sales made with the coupon code.

EA will probably remove games from accounts or ban accounts of the users that did this lol

After the whole 'users who swear on the Battlelog forums get their entire Origin account banned' thing, I'm afraid I'll always think the worse of EA.
For whatever reason they want, they seem to ban entire Origin accounts. This 'exploit' is the only valid reason I can see that they can even use to justify such an action.

Will they use it as an excuse? I wouldn't at all be surprised.

I actually took teh survey to get he code afew days ago, but didnt use the code. Have I lost my chance for using the code because of others exploiting the code?

I have no doubts the accounts that used it more than once will be banned. EA doesn't let anything slide...I feel bad for the people behind this promotion. I am sure there are some job openings at EA.

Though it is completely wrong that anything should happen to any one who used the code. It is like the time I had a coupon for a free one topping pizza, a side and two litter soda with a purchase from a pizza place. We would order and the delivery guy shows up with the food...and would never ask for the coupon. We would pass it around. It was used probably 40 times. Even after it expired it was used several times before the place finally caught on. They didn't take the coupon when it was used (meaning invalidate the code) so there was nothing illegal done by any user, though I am sure there is some wording in the EULA for EA that will justify them banning any one that even looked at the code.

well, it was obvious the code wasnt meant to be used more than once. sometimes you get burned when exploiting.

latest word is that code is no longer valid...which is dumb. They should have fixed the code to work only once rather than kill it.

What I would like to know is if the Origin codes have always been like this. Though this is the first one I've seen. So they might be rather rare.

Origin will lose a ton of preexisting people if they take action. Just remove the games from accounts and get over it... It would be really bad for them to take any kind of action.

That's never stopped them before.
