Main Forum Folding War thread - OCN Team Intel Stats Page

Main Stats Page - Check out the total points being folded: http://folding.axihub.ca/ffw.php

List of Teams - See who we are competing against: http://folding.axihub.ca/ffw_teams.php

Want to fold for Team Intel? Signup link: LINK

Gentlemen, that time of year has come again. OCN has split itself up into Folding teams, with each forum out to get this team. The Intel team won the 2010 Forum Folding War, came second in 2011 and 2012, slipped to third in 2013, but you bet your bottom dollar we're gonna do one better this year and reclaim our title with your help. Whether you just want to get into Folding, or you'd like to make sure everyone knows that Intel is the best of the best, this is your chance. For those who have non-Intel hardware, you are encouraged to use everything you have available, although it's preferable to use at least one Intel-based system.

• For those of you with Folding names, you can use those names for the War.

• Those of you without can either make a new one and qualify for bonuses yourself (10 SMP WUs), or can use the team name:

Team Folding name: OCN_Intel (case sensitive)
Passkey: 712d0e0e6dacfb8fd3655c4c046387bb
Team Number: 37726

Note: If you use the team name, you will need to provide proof to qualify for prizes. Check the "How do I win?" section further below.

What?
"What's the Forum Folding War?", I hear you ask.
Well, in an effort to generate some momentum on OCN's [email protected] team, and to get some competitiveness out of you all, we've decided to split the overclock.net forum up into Folding teams based around specific groups on the forum.

When?
The first week of February starting on the 13th, ending on the 20th at noon UTC. Why UTC you ask, because it's easier to do stuff on UTC during Daylight Savings time and the server is set up on UTC time... That gives you all plenty of time to get some clients set up, so if you've got any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Here is the sign up sheet: http://folding.axihub.ca/ffw_signup.php

Prizes?
Group 1 will be randomly given out to the winning team.
Group 2 will be a random draw for all other participants. So even if you think your team won't win, there's still a chance to win prizes.
Group 3 will be randomly given to every participant.

Group 1 prizes:

  • 5 x $50 - donated by OC.

Group 2 prizes:

  • 6 x $25 - donated by OC.

Group 3 prizes:

  • 10 x $10 - donated by OC.
  • 1 sealed 1tb WD black wd1003fzex hard drive that I got on rma (Free shipping to contiguous US 48) donated by @BeerCan
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 1050Ti SSC GAMING ACX 3.0 donated by @PR-Imagery - (3 year minimum OCN Folder determined by Foldathon participation badges, shipping covered up to $50 - which should cover most countries)
  • A steam key for rocket league - Donated by @Deedaz
  • EVGA GTX 970 currently in use during 2017 FFW - donated by @Lord Xeb - (Must have at least 1 OCN foldathon badge or 1 chimp challenge badge. Will cover shipping up to $50)

NOTE: Winners from Group 1 and 2 not eligible for Group 3 prizes (no double dipping
:)
)

How do I win?
Sign up for a team on the stats website and as long as you Fold one WU during the event, we will include you in the prize draw. For those of you who use your Team's Folding name and not your own, you will need to submit proof. To do this, you will need to submit a screenshot of:

  • HFM or Stanford client with a WU at at least 50% completion, with your team name shown.
  • The current time in UTC from time.gov. Must be taken during the event.
  • Your OCN username in Notepad.

What else do I have to do?
Fold your heart out! Use the team thread to ask questions, or stop by the Folding section and post a thread, We'll be happy to help.

I'd love to get my rig watercooled, but unfortunately I can't afford that.

I've got zero regrets with my Corsair H100iGTX. The only thing I would suggest is replacing the fans with the Gentle Typhoons. Its amazing how you can hear the GT fans, but they aren't unpleasant. I think I'd swap all my fans to GT's if they didn't cost close to $20 a whack.

It is ok but i hope a custom loop will drop the temps evem more.

But the main reason i go for a custom loop i the 980Ti, it is such a hot and noisy card during folding.
How is that 980ti vs your 970? I've seen a few ti's used at good prices locally (US $250), but I'm kind of holding out for a 1070 to come in under 350 too.

A 980 Ti folds similar to a GTX 1070.

The 980ti is a big step up from the 970, the PPD is double.
i think the noise is double as well, the why i'm going to put it on water.
