Forwarding Audio Channels?

337 Views 8 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  8ball
Hey all,

I'm not sure what exactly to call it, but I want to know if it's possible to somehow channel any sound going from one computer to another via the network?

I've got a cord running from the second computer to my main and into the line-in, but it's signal is weaker, and usually very quiet.

Any other ideas or suggestions?

Cheers,
Henrik

No. I mean sending sound directly from computer to computer over the network. ie. Any sound on computer B that plays will be played on computer A.

I think you are on the right lines, but have you tried adjusting the sound properties for the line out/line in on each computer.

A better why of doing it would be to use digital out to digital in via fibre optic cable, but that would be only if the computers supported this.

As far as over a network cable, I have no idea.

You have to capture sound in realtime and play it on the other comp. VLC might be able to do this, but it'll probably have some delay.
What cable are you using?
What are you using it for? Perhaps there is a better solution.
To put it simply, I have one set of speakers, and two computers. I want both of them to be connected to the same speaker system. But the second one is too far from the sound system, but they are on the same network.

So I was hoping there was a way to connect them over the network.

I'm using a line-in cable, however, it doesn't go straight into the computer, it goes into the external unit that comes with the logitech Z-5500 speakers, which I can't control from windows (or from the device itself).

So it's a little quiet. And because I use that computer for things like msn and skype, I'd like it to have a more direct line into the system.

But it's alright, I will try to get a longer line-in cable.
so you want to stream audio?

No no. I want to connect computer B to my speakers via Computer A (rather than directly to the speakers).

Was I unclear? It seems like I'm haven't gotten it through to anyone but quakermaas.
