I'm in the market for a new case for my gaming rig, and the Fractal R3 and BitFenix Shinobi Window seem to be two of the best. Things that I'm looking for are low noise levels, reasonably good cooling, and a low profile design (Eg none of the useless plastic bobs and whistles that come attached to many gaming pc cases)

R3

Any advice on which is better would be appreciated! Thanks in advance

So far, I love the R3, it's quiet and with some fans it keeps everything really cool. It's also very simplistic and I find it very easy to clean the dust from the front and underneath filters.

the shinobi looks ok, I'm just not a fan of windows.

If you have any questions about the R3 let me know.

which is "better"? R3, far and away

the shinobi is a budget case, though. it's not supposed to outperform a case that costs more than twice as much as it

You can get a fractal design xl for the same price on newegg as the r3 on your site. Is there a certain reason why you have to buy your case there?

Playtech and Computer Lounge are the only decent sites available (That I'm aware of..)

As mentioned before already you are comparing 2 chassis of a totally different price segment... If you have no money issue you should first decide on which one you like better and then see if based on specs it fits your needs...

If you want to save money by not sacrificing in specs, build quality and features I suggest you go for the Shinobi...

BTW - Here you can get the Shinobi even cheaper... http://www.acquire.co.nz/acquire/def...ept_id=1600040

If silence is an issue for you the Shinobi is a great pick... Computerbase the biggest German media is checking the noise level of every chassis they test and since several months the Shinobi is on #1 - Find below:

I had a Define R3 and while I loved the looks, the case seemed to be appaling for airflow, so my fans had to run overtime making it a lot louder which defeated the point of the case. And cable management was a squeeze.

So while I loved the look of it, from a functionality point of view, I hated it. I returned it and got my CM 690 II
