Hi OCN,

I'm trying to dabble into Linux/Unix and starting with setting up a FreeNAS guest OS on my 2012R2 server. When I run the VM though I get an error: Fatal trap 9: general protection fault while in kernel mod
Stopped at pmap_invalidate_chache_range+0x73 clflushl (%rbx)

Anyone have any ideas?

EDIT: its worth mentioning i'm running this on an FX-8350.

If I get time tonight, have a dig around, but FYI both pfSense and FreeNAS are modified releases of FreeBSD, so their should be some transferable (by the sounds of it, the issue you're having is kernel related anyway so it's more a FreeBSD bug than FreeNAS)

That's what I figured, but I cant figure out why pfSense will run now and not FreeNAS. :/

You have to register and create an account and file the bug under "bugs".

https://bugs.freenas.org/projects/freenas/issues?set_filter=1&tracker_id=1

also here is on their freenas forums from 2013: https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/fatal-trap-9-general-protection-fault-while-in-kernel-mode-issue.13407/

hope this helps
