Hey everyone

recently started experiencing this weird issue with my computer:

- after leaving computer at idle for 15 mins +, when I return and try to open browser or any application on the computer it just freezes the windows. I am able to do ctrl+alt+del and look at the processes and only thing using 99% of is the System Idle Process, when i select other applications seems like the CPU doesnt react. My power settings are all to never so nothign ever shuts off, my temps at idle are around 30C. Another strange thing is that even though i cannot select any applications i am able to select any of the options in the start up menu to the right such as computer, control panel etc. but all the applications to the left all blank usually they have their icons but after idle nothing.

any help would be appreciated

thank you,

Arslan D.

Are you using an offset CPU core voltage?

yes an offset as this Motherboard only has an offset not an actual voltage setting that you can change, which i do not like. Only thing I am thinking is that when at idle the CPU voltage drops too low and when i try to do something it doesnt come up. but not sure how to check that.

I think that there there are three things you can do (don't do all 3):

  • Disable C3 and C6
  • Use a higher offset voltage
  • Leave C3 and C6 enabled and use Medium LLC with a higher offset voltage setting because the lower LLC setting results in more vDroop

C3 and C6 are currently disabled. i will look at this real quick because its easy to test it doesnt take long for it to freeze but whats strange is my overclock has been at current settings for 3 weeks no issues only change since is a video card graphic driver update.

So this is what I have done so far with positive results:

- enabled C3 and C6
- changed the offset from +0.05 to +0.09, this bumped up my load voltage to 1.356 at 4.5GHz and stable
- left pc running for over 12 hours without touching it and only turned monitor off and no issues this morning
