Friend needs an all-around rig.

Hi again, OCN,

my friend is getting tired of his mac, and he's considering building a new, windows-running rig. His budget is $800-1300, and he needs the essentials of the rig plus a mouse, keyboard, operating system, and monitor. He will use it for gaming, video editing, school work, and other general stuff. He says he doesn't need more than 300GB of hard drive space, since he's got an external hard drive to use for storing bigger files and such.

Make a newegg cart and list any prebuilt rigs as an alternative. He's a bit uncomfortable about it as he's concerned he might destroy something.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: nvm about the operating system, he has it.

He doesn't need the two hard drives, because he already has a few external sources.

As for the video card, it's not even DX10.1. It's cheaper, that's about it...

Nice 600w PSU and unavailable combo deal though.

Also, is the ASrock mobo I selected any good? I know ASUS is the main company, but I don't know why ASRock is so cheap. Do they cut any corners?
Update, because NewEgg sells Megahalems w/1156 bracket as of now:

That looks like a very good "all around" rig, I'm not quite sure I would personally go with ASRock, but since your on a budget I guess thats okay.

+1 for Rip Jaws, I love them

It doesn't really matter, Corsair will work fine. Ripjaws were out of stock when I made the cart, when they went back in, I didn't bother changing it.

ASRock is a subdivision of ASUS, and I liked the layout of the board I chose. Why not ASRock?
