From onboard sound, yes. From any other decent soundcard, no.

I paid $150 for mine the week it was released and it was completely worth it. I have never had a problem with it. People who hate on creative because of "driver issues" don't know how to install them correctly. They say bad drivers I say user error.

This.

Anyone not a brand fan boy will know this is a great deal for an awesome card. Don't let the creative haters sway your decision to buy this.

This 100%. The people bashing are just on "the bandwagon" and have probably never even heard it. $99 is the normal price for the standard X-Fi Titanium. With this you get an EMI shield and front panel audio header (plus DDL and DTS Connect) for the same price...plus a huge rebate on top of it.

The driver's are a bit iffy, but there are much better modded drivers out there anyway.

For the price it is very hard to beat. If you get into the $200+ price range, then sure there are better options, but that's with ANY piece of audio equipment.

Won't most onboard soundcards w/optical out's perform just as good as any aftermarket add in cards when used in that mode?
