FSP MOD 700 may have fragged my board

Hooked up the new FSP, powered up...heard a phhhhhhhhhhhhhht POP and saw a puff of smoke.

That's a fried MOSFET on his P5K. I'm not sure what it is for but it is pretty close to the RAM slots. I'm just hoping the board isn't completely shot. I was helping him out thru PMs and he was going to try to see if he could get it to boot but I haven't heard back from him in a while.

I've lost what little respect I had for FSP.

FSP is Forton Source. They manufacturer PSUs for many many companies like OCZ, Silverstone, Zalman and Antec to name a few. Very few companies actually make their own PSUs.

That looks crispy. Sorry to see it...I wouldn't wish that on anybody.
All components tested fine in my other rig, my P5K tested fine running on my X3.

FFSPos is going back to NewEgg.
I don't recommend it to anyone, as shinji2k pointed out to me this FSPos model is nothing more than a rebranded epsilon series, one of the worst reviews of a psu I've seen on JonnyGuru
