I'd like some kind of simple FTP server, so when I'm at Uni I can access my work saved at home.<br />
<br />
Any suggestions?<br />
<br />
-Need to be able to access it from the internet. (Web browser)<br />
-Free. >_<<br />
-I have a router any problems?

<a href="http://www.apache.org/" target="_blank">Apache</a> are a respectable organisation that offer free HTTP server software if you'd consider HTTP.<br><br>
I don't know anything about the four FTP sever software providers listed <a href="http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/ftpservers/tp/aatp_winftpserv.htm" target="_blank">here</a>, but they might be worth looking into?<br><br>
Other than that, I can only suggest Google for "<a href="http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=%22Free+FTP+Server+Software%22&meta=" target="_blank">Free FTP Server Software</a>" <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/wink.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"> .<br><br>
Good Luck! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Thumb"><br><br>

You can try looking into <a href="http://www.uniformserver.com/" target="_blank">http://www.uniformserver.com/</a>... it is a small and simple version of apache and mysql. you can grab the plugin for Slimftp from that site as well. (all free)<br><br>
as for your router, you just need to forward the correct port to your computer...

I actually have one setup right now, its very simple. I use Cerberus.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.cerberusftp.com/download.htm#download" target="_blank">http://www.cerberusftp.com/download.htm#download</a><br />

Easy to setup and manage. Just realize that everything is sent cleartext, unless you have some sort of TLS encryption setup. This means that it is possible for someone to sniff the network and grab your password.
