ATI Redwood and Cedar expected in Q1

2010 for mainstream and value DX 11

ATI/ AMD has launched all its DirectX 11 products planned for 2009 and in 2010 there should be at least two chips and three products to launch.

By Q4 2009 AMD launched Hemlock dual-GPU card, 5970, Cypress XT 5870, Cypress PRO â€" 5850 as well as Juniper XT - 5770 and Juniper LE 5750.

Q1 2010 should bring two new chips and three new cards. The mainstream market will get Redwood XT, a 40nm DX11 chip that should take over the mainstream market from 4770 and 4670 and the second Redwood simply called PRO will replace 4650 in the mainstream market.

We would not be surprised if Redwood ends up with 56x0 name. The value market will get a new chip called Cedar, also...

I really starting to like Ati's naming scheme, the higher the number the higher the performance. Nice and straight forward

Keep it up Ati
First number is the series, second is the line (ultra high\\high\\mainstream\\value\\htpc\\intregrated), 3rd is the level of said line (high\\low end). Much better than Nvidias....
I want to see a 5830...should be interesting if released.
i would love to see a hd 5830 too; with performance around the hd 4970
and a hd 5670 that dont require pcie connector and out-performs hd 4670 ddr4
^ agree.

Gimme 30-50% increase in performance for the 5670 over the 4670 please
Worth it if only for the DX11 and cheap crossfire.

I'm interested in "PRO".
Wake me up when Cypress XTX specs are out.

shader-wise it makes sense so far too.

2x 5750s = 5850 shader count

2x 5770s = 5870 shader count

2x 5870s = 5970 shader count

Fixed.
I want one so bad. I'm sure it'll be a while before they do that, though...same thing happened with the 4830.

People love the HD XX90's for some reason. I don't understand the fascination. All the cards are good and the 5890 will just be another card in the 5800 line and fit the performance range between the 5870 and 5950.

simple, why do u buy the latest stepping CPU? because itsthe most refined of the lot.... the xx90s are the ones built after the refinement of all the processes involved. What i was told about my 4890 anyway, no i dont have proof

Well 4850x2 completely sucked so I do not have high hopes for this gen either.

Fact of the matter is with HD 5870 ATI is not really trying.

One of the most impressive parts of the card is its power circuitry, which is entirely digital and spread across the PCB. The GPU is powered by four Volterra VT1157SF digital PWMs controlled by a Volterra VT1165MF voltage regulator. As if that's not enough, there are provisions for a fifth phase, should AMD release a faster version of the 5870 later down the line.

Beefed up pwms, 8+6pin power connectors and refined cores if not totally enhanced (think 2000 shaders / 40 ROPs, albeit original rumour at xbit was 1920 shaders but that just doesn't make sense considering how rv870 arch works) means we're looking at either 925 or 950Mhz stock core clocks.

Yea baby

For $49 I wouldn't care which DX version it used, because I wouldn't be playing a game with a $49 GPU. How many "PC Gamers" would? Not flaming, just being honest.

Tons of gamers do that actually. Only a tiny minority bothers following up on latest pc hardware and gpu tech.
