Red shroud and backplate for $549

Just recently, EVGA listed a new version of its sellout Geforce GTX 295 graphics card on its product page, one that was inspired by fiery looks and a primeval appeal for anything resembling flesh. If you're a self-proclaimed enthusiast and like the color red, this card would be a very ideal choice. (Or you should get a red ATI, sub.ed.)

The EVGA Geforce GTX 295 Red Edition is inspired by the company's new trend to design products with red and black color tones. A few examples can be seen with the shroud color of the 55nm Geforce GTX 260 Core 216 as well as the newly announced X58 SLI Classified motherboard. The card runs at stock frequencies of a 576MHz core, 1242MHz shaders, and 1998MHz GDDR3 memory, but these can be significantly raised through the use of the company's GPU Voltage Tuner as acclaimed by many users.

This model, labeled 017-P3-1294-AR, comes with a preinstalled red EVGA GTX 295 backplate, which have been reported to provide significant temperature reductions by up to 10C on load.

EVGA currently lists the Red Edition for $549.99 on its site with stock expected to be available soon, and it will not take away your freedom or speech, nor socialize healthcare.

There is also a back plate that lowers the temps.... so basically you get a better cooled card at the same time....

They have to leave their stupid logo unpainted? Ugh.

Do us a favor and make it all Red. That's the way it's meant to be painted.

What? I realize it isn't saying that you lose temps due to it being red with a red backplate but it kinda sounds like it lol.
That's just an utter catastrophe.
Wow, thats an ugly design if I've ever seen one. It's like they put a video card in a brick shaped box!
these card is clearly for nvidia fanbois who secretly wish they had an ati card

at least this would give someone opportunity for some custom paint jobs
i was actually comparing this one to the regular one with backplate.. and this is $20 or so more expensive. i didnt notice an increase in clocks or anything.. so... not too sure if this is worth it...

you could use the voltage tuner with the previous 295 right?

The original black was the size of a brick, but the red turned it into a brick.
