Only desktop parts though

Digitimes reports Intel is getting ready to roll out new chips and is planning to adjust prices in order to make room for the new parts. Unfortunately, Core i7s are nowhere near price drops it seems, as these price drops will be limited to desktop parts only, although some of them will drop by as much as 20%.

Most notable price drop will occur on April 19th when Core 2 Quad Q9300 will drop from $266 to $213, which is a 19.92% drop. The same date will see Core 2 Quad Q9550S drop from $369 to 320, which is 13.28% drop, and Core 2 Quad Q9400S from $320 to $277 amounting to a 13.44% drop. Core 2 Quad Q8200S will drop from $245 to $213, which is 13.06% less.

July 19th will see Core 2 Quad Q8300 drop by 10.93%, from $183 to $163, and the Core 2 Duo E7500 by 15.04%, down from $133 to $113. The Pentium Dual-Core E5400 will be down from $84 to $74, a 11.90% drop, whereas its Dual-Core E5300 sibling will drop from $74 to $64, which is a 13.51% drop.

The same date will allow bargain hunters to purchase Celeron Dual-Core E1500 dirt-cheap, since it will drop from $53 to $43, which is an 18.87% slash.

Good for people planning to upgrade in the summer
Shame about the i7 - I was hoping that they'd come down over the summer so I can upgrade in the autumn (plus, I was hoping i5 and the 32nm die shrink might bring prices down)
Intel must be getting decent yields on the S parts. The Q9550S might be worth playing with at that price.
