[Fudzilla] RV790 to have more efficient Shaders

Faster clock to clock than the RV770

We’ve heard that ATI's secret weapon with RV790 is not actually the higher clock speed, but rather improved shader efficiency, which enables it to do things a bit faster than a RV770.

This would mean that the RV790, Radeon HD 4890 card should end up faster compared at the same clock and specification to HD 4870 card.

We are not sure what ATI did to its shaders, but this is the reason why RV790 chips are actually differ from the RV770, and that the pin count is not the same. The release day should be April 6th.

I want to bear ATi's children.
Now is the time to say "I told you so".

Yep, I told you so.

i've seen the bios limits too - 1000 core, 1200 memory.

massive win with a good cooler, i can see this being my next card.
looks compelling to me.
I get a warm fuzzy feeling looking at a 1Ghz clock speed on a GPU

lets see...

pcs+/iceq4 cooler + memory overclock,

i'm thinking 1ghz/4.4ghz, plus ati's epic drivers = massive win.
I was going to get myself an 4850, but I might hold back and save abit more to get this

Jesus christ FUD has gone off the deep end. They release totally BS news articles about the RV790 every other freaking day. Other than minor modifications to the architecture to facilitate the move to a more matured version of the 55nm process (which equates to the higher clock speeds), the numerical specifications of the RV790 remain absolutely identical to the RV770, other than clock speeds of course.

And if FUD were posting similar news articles, except they were about nvidia, you can bet what kind of responses it would be met with on OCN. "Psh, it's just FUD, don't believe any of it".

Now I am not trying to paint the RV790 in a bad light. It will be a great move for ATI, especially if the clock speeds and overclocking potential hold up. Depending on how it performs and overclocks, I may get one myself.

The only thing I have a problem with is all the ridiculous claims that FUD has been spewing as of late, at an increasing rate to boot. If you will recall, they published an article claiming that the RV790 was going to be a brand new architecture with few similarities to the RV770. Was that met with questioning on OCN? I think you guys can guess. This is one of the most biased and hypocritical forums on the entire internets.

I was with you until you said "internets".

This card probably won't be in my budget for a very long time, but I do hope there are definitely other improvements than just clock speed, and that this article holds more credibility than 003 gives it.

ATI didn't do anything to its shaders; it hired Jack Bauer.

003 - i believe the phrase you are looking for is "fanboy loaded".

NB: fanboy is a synonym for "idiot", "delusional person" and "blind moron".

yea fud just seems to be assuming things. of course the 4890 is going to be atleast as fast or faster than the 4870 clock for clock. and once the benchmarks are out people are going to say FUD was correct. anyone can write an article like that. it's like saying inside sources told me the 4890 will be about 20% faster than the 4870. if it's not, no one will remember i said that and if it's true I would be like FUD and claim I told you so.

Allow me to pick this one apart...

You seem to have better sources than FUD, care to share? Otherwise you're talking out of your ***.

Here you go again with you subjective point of view of OCN. Maybe you just need to stay out of threads that deal with ATI or AMD for a while. Take a break big guy.

ZOMG...there's more than one internet?!?!

fanboy they are called rumours, they get information and share it we will only know if it is true when the final product has been tested. didnt you all expected the 4850/4870 to have 600 shadrs? how much was it realesed with putting a kick to the throat of nvidia 800

another thing I notice is that you nvidia fanboys dont know what the meaning of the word biased or hypocrit.. how can the users be hypocrits and i asume most of them neither works for ati or nvidia?

Is the number of pins numerical specification?
