My motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P AMD 970 Socket AM3+ ATX Mainboard w/ On/Off Charge, Ultra Durable 4 Classic, 7.1 Audio, GbLAN, 2 Gen2 PCIe X16, 3 PCIe X1 & 2 PCI

I heard that my mobo isn't that good, so I'm only OCing to 4.0 ghz, unless you guys tell me otherwise.

I go to the bios and the clock speed says "auto" and it won't let me change it.

So.... How do I change it? There is probably a very simple solution that I am unaware of. I am extremely new to technology, and have never OC'd. I learned about OCing maybe 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for any help!

You want to edit the Clock Ratio (or multiplier). Set it to 20 to achieve 4.0Ghz, you may have to up your voltage (vcore) to get there, don't increase that too high though (say 1.30 maybe 1.35). Then run Prime95 in blend mode to check if it is stable, if any cores fail you need to up the voltage and if it passes 6 hrs you can lower the voltage a tiny bit (lowering decreases temperatures). If you need anything else just ask.
