GSKILL [...] is thrilled to announce the Trident Z RGB Series - the world's most revolutionary RGB lighting DDR4 memory kit. Requiring no additional power connections, this incredible feat of engineering bares pure RGB lighting across an uncovered full-length light bar on the award-winning Trident Z series heatspreader design.

By default, the Trident Z RGB will display a rainbow of colors in a wave-style lighting effect, illuminating any system with a myriad of hues. Further lighting effects and color customizations can be controlled and chosen through software, scheduled for a February 2017 release.

I admit that it's gone a bit too far with the RGB-everything,but it's always nice to be able to color orient your build as you want

Yeah, definitely. I think these are the best out so far though. The coloring is perfectly diffused and filling without being glaring. I wonder how the software will be. I hope it's like Crucial's for the Ballistix Tracers, so you can tie in color functions to RAM activity. Either way, I think these will take the reins away from Corsair's LED RAM line up.

RGB reminds me of the craze where people were ricing out their Civics and like with clear hoods, oversized spoilers, ect

Back in the late 90's - early 00's I would care about LED's on everything, but now I am all about minimal and functional design. RGB everything is really getting crazy.

It's like all the people who wanted these as a kid:

are suddenly making PC parts.

RGB it, RGB it all!!!

That said, at least this makes sense. Ram isn't upgraded often and it's usually already colored it's nice knowing you have an option that will match whatever theme you want.

Back in the early 2000s cold cathodes were all the rage and my system was black w/ blue lighting. My current rig is black w/ red lighting but its slowly just going to plain old no lighting.

Getting old and all that.

G.Skill makes good ram (best around), but there is nothing revolutionary about this. I don't get the RGB hype, it's ugly and screams "LOOK AT ME I'M A 12 YEAR OLD GAMER".

This. Revolutionary? Ehhhhhh.... Neat? Definitely.

Manufacturer: "Look! We've added flashing lights to our swivel chairs! Looks cool huh?"
Marketing team: "IT'S REVOLUTIONARY!!!"

There was like 60$ difference between my red led keyboard vs the RGB version... I bet this will be the case with these. I couldn't care less in fact. Matte black all the way!

One of my PC's is red and black in a sort of Sith or KDF theme, but one of my rigs is absolute rainbow to the hilt.. these will make a welcome addition. The software touch is nice, though. I like having options should the mood strike.
