I got my ram a little while ago: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Custra...82E16820231098
Using cheap 512 drr2 ram for now. Anyways, I cant get into the bios and I cant get it to the desktop. It says "Memory Testing 2097152K OK". Which made me think it was going to work, but it just hovers there for awhile and the screen eventually goes blank. Is it DOA or does it have something to do with voltage. I was going to RMA it but I wanted to make sure that it was actually defective/dead. Thanks.

That is a voltage issuse. I helped a buddy build a PC with that exact same RAM. We had to grab some cheap-o DDR2 from a guy with a Gateway to boot into the BIOS and change the voltage. If you clear the CMOS (wait about 2 mins when clearing) and then start up again, you may be able to get into the bios. Its either hit-or miss, and you can get in if you try enough. We managed to do that to another Gigabyte board with the memory.

I think we got it running at 1.8V, but you can always push it higher to boot, and then bring it down.

Got it working =D WOW. THANK YOU... I have been putting off rma'ing this for a week, because i have been busy. thanks. lol. I didn't really know what i was doing but i went in and i raised it .2 and it is working. Im not really sure how many volts i am now but its .2 more than it was. Im guessing that I mobos start giving 1.8v and i raised it to 2.0. Can i lower it back down some or do i leave it at 2.0v? Thank you. Again. Is it safe to run it like it now? I don't want it to die any time soon. thanks.
