Angle snapping was removed as of PID LZ13333. Lower PIDs have angle snapping.

There is no way to specify in online orders which version you are going to get. As time goes on, it is more likely that you will receive a non-angle-snapping version as stock of the older version is depleted. New units have been working their way into the channel for several months, though, so your chances of getting the new one are only increasing at this point.

In retail stores, you can tell the difference between the older and newer versions by the package's transparent closure labels; G400s without angle snapping have the Logitech logo printed on these labels. G400s with angle snapping have no printing on these labels.

I'll pick one up at best buy for testing purposes when I can.

I'm Chris_P in that thread. I'm the product manager for the G400.

Ah finally, my perfect mouse has been created. Thanks for listening Logitech.

Just received my 3rd replacement G400 today. It has a lower PID than stated above so still has angle snapping. Not to worry tho, it also has a loose mouse button and faulty wheel. Guess I'll wait a while before replacing again.

Just purchased the G400 from Amazon. The box was sealed at each end with tape, and the tape does have Logitech printed on it, so this is suppose to be a new one with angle snapping removed. I am not using the Logitech software.

DPI at 800 on QcK at 1024x768.

Wow. The G400 was already the best option for sub 50€ rsp. palm-grip mice.
Now with the new batches, it could become the best option regardless of price.

It seems that the first owners of this mouse were like beta testers... This is going to be bad for those who already bought it.

@CPate

If you guys at Logitech would remove that hard thin ridge of rubber on the front right side of the G400, that would be great. I had to sand the ridge down because my ring finger dangles off to the side of it, and some times I use it for gripping the right side too. With the ridge as it is on a new G400, it makes for a sore ring finger in a hurry. From what I read, the G500 does not have that ridge.

Now if Logitech could make a mouse for us ambidextrous mouse users that would be great. As it stands, the Steelseries Xai and Kana are as close as I can get to the mouse I want. I've been a user of your ball mice, then the MX300 and finally the G3. After that you lost me because you stopped making ambidextrous mice.

Well, there is the G300. It does have its issues though, not as well rounded as the new G400s. They also build the G100 for the asian market. It is very popular with korean starcraft players, the only trouble is you have to import it directly which leads to problems if you require warranty.

G100 tracking quality isn't that great either. Not sure about the 300 since it has a diff MCU similar to the 400.

Well, the G300 doesn't have the classical shape I'm looking for and the G100 doesn't have a side button (I need at least one) and 400dpi, and it isn't sold here in the US (otherwise the shape looks pretty close to what I'm looking for).

I wouldn't mind a G3 redesign w/ a 20 pin Avago optical. Quake and SC2 players would eat that up.
