Well it looks like the G9x is finally at the end of it's run. Sensor problems aside I thought it was a great mouse and the precision grip gave it a shape unlike any other mouse out there. Looks like logitech is no longer manufacturing them so if you want one I'd pick one up before you can no longer find them.

What's really sad is that it's been discontinued without a replacement. There's nothing in the current lineup that comes close. G700 - big and heavy, G600 - mmo mouse, G400 - totally different shape, g300 - bad sensor and button placement.

I actually just retired my G9x today since the braided cord was falling apart.

I grabbed the G700, and I feel it is superior in every way.... If the weight bothers you, remove the battery and use it as wired (shouldn't be a problem if you liked the G9x). Without the battery, they seem the same weight to me... just tested.

I own all of the g series mice (multiples of most) and the G700 is not a replacement for the 9x. The weight is one thing, the battery life is terrible, the cable that comes with it is barely what I'd call a cable, it's unbelievably thick and rigid as a steel guide wire. You can replace it with an aftermarket usb cable if you can find one to fit in the socket but it's pretty ghetto. Not to mention the g700 is about twice as tall as the g9x and totally different sculpts, grip style isn't even remotely the same.

The G700 is a fine mouse, but it's nothing like a g9x.

The G400 is also a great mouse, but not a substitute for the 9x. It's a palm mouse designed for 3 fingers on top (dat ridge) and the scroll wheel is contoured into a ^ shape which I don't care for (not that the 9x had a wheel to write home about).

Give me a G9x shape with the G700's scroll wheel and the G400's sensor and we're talking.

that will most likely never happen.

I hope Logitech make a small, lightweight, basic mouse with a good optical sensor. I really like Logitech and the G400 is a great mouse but I've come to realize I need a smaller and lighter mouse for FPS games.

The G9x shape is good, I haven't used it enough to tell for sure but I think I could get used to that shape if the mouse was lighter and had a good optical sensor.

This man here is a true Genius, I suggest logitech hire him and bring out the g900 with these specifications.

Personally I would also like to see a button right above the middle mouse button where they write g-series, I might even try and implement the 4 side buttons from the g700 mouse.

for me that would be the perfect mouse.

For you G9x owners out there.
Did you ever try to spin the scroll wheel as fast as you can on free mode? It's like the wheel of fortune, that thing just keeps on spinning

If that is not a sign of quality I don't know what is.

Had one for years, but it was killing my hand. Got a G700 and I just charge it over night and use it wireless during the day. Still feels too small though.
