Runescape.

Kidding. Uhh, since LOTRO is out of the question, you could try Warhammer Online. It used to be pay to play, but it went unlimited "free trial" some time ago after is wasn't successful enough. It had a metric crapton of hype leading up to release; I ultimately couldn't stick to it after a month or two; it, along with basically every other MMO I've tried, has felt slow and not fluid compared to WoW.

Try perfect world.
You couldn't stand graphics, and you're recommending Perfect World?

I played wow for about a year

tryed lotr online aswell (f2p) and lotr just blows ...stupid graphics, stupid scenery, boring quests ...overall just bad

u could try warhammer online (endless trial) - ofcourse u wont have full access to all the stuff, but it should keep u busy for a while

nothing wont come close to wow though

Nearly all the good MMOs requires you to pay a monthly fee. It's worth it though and I really think you should consider it.

Doubtful unless he's been to a ton of WoW tournaments.
