This morning, the companies announced that The Beatles: Rock Band will be released on September 9, 2009--i.e. 9/9/09--in North America, Australasia, and the European Union. (Previously, the game was expected in Q4 2009.) It will ship simultaneously on the Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, but not on the PlayStation 2, unlike Harmonix's last project, Rock Band 2.

Earlier than I expected. I'll buy the game for sure...but $250 for the bundle and $99 for a guitar? Come on guys, that's a little too much markup just because it's Beatles branded.

Did you know that one of the first, if not the first Beatles record was misprinted as The Beetles... Haha that cracks me up!

I've been a die hard Beatles guy for about 25 years now, and that does not ring a bell. Going to need
.

Now it was suggested at one time that they call themselves "The Beetles" as a tribute of some sort to Buddy Holly and Crickets, but the name was never officially used with that spelling.

The Beatles first album was Please Please Me, of course.

they were once known as the "silver beetles" before they became "the beatles". although the original lineup was not George, Ringo, Ringo and John.

If I were to get a Rock band, it would be this one. Here's to hoping the Wii version isn't cut down.

Well that is true, yes. For a time they also used the spelling "Silver Beatles". And there were many other names before this, too. But they did not record an album under any of these names, they were "The Beatles" by that time.

Now I have seen "bootlegs" of The Silver Beatles...I think I had one one cassette back in high school, actually, I think it was a live recording. In fact, here's a link I found with info on one such album released in the 80s...it was an audition recording, never meant to be released as an album. But according to the article, they were actually using The Beatles as their band name when this was recorded; why the album calls them The Silver Beatles is not explained here.
