Gaming Build

Hey guys, what's up??

The last couple weeks I've been going on Newegg pretty much everyday debating on wether I should build a new computer, upgrade some of the stuff in my sig rig, or just leave it alone. And to this day, I'm still lost as to what to do. I keep going from getting an E8500 since it's suppose to be superior for gaming, to the Phenom II x4 black, back to the i7. But I want you guys to help me out. What the hell should I do? haha.

I also want to get my rig appraised, maybe I could sell it? But I can't even post there because I have no rep :/ so if you want when you help me out, let me know what its worth!

Thanks guys

hi, ok so what do you use your current rig for? I mean obviously games but what sort?

the first thing i'd look into would be that gfx card.. you will most likley not need any new power supply since that 750watt looks quite beefy allready.
Honestly, I play all kinds of game, DOD, COD2, L4D2, ect.

they are availible now (5850) unless you live in a country where they have not yet been released? anyways well for L4D2 your 8800gts should be fine at such a low resolution (assuming it is 1080P like it sais in your sig). so maybe best to wait and then get the 5850 once the price drops a bit. therebye better preparing yourself for when you need to upgrade the rest of the computer. I have found (so far atleast) that my chip is able to handle any game and that it is only my gfx card that slows it down. even then i find it good at almost anything...

actually, 1920x1080p, with this card, with the setting all the way up, it doesnt run it that good broski. I dont want to play games without the settings all the way up...

and also, I know theyre out lol, theyre just not available to buy anywhere~

ahh, ebay is the best bet. my old 8800gt allways did well even with crysis at 1920*1200 (not ever tried L4D2 ovcourse, it was along time ago). ok well get a 4*** or something a 5850 is overkill. but hey it seems your set on it so if you want it just go for it!

yeah, you gotta love how building rep sure can take awhile...

If you go the Ebay route, be sure to ask a million and plus one questions. A good owner will have answers to all your q's and be happy to know his/her card is going into the hands of someone who cares.

I also make a point of asking for additional photos to be sent to my Email. Communication is key!

Yeah, if he overclocks his Q6600 to 3.6 GHz and gets a new graphics card, that would be perfectly fine for a while.

that gpu really isnt all that bad. whats your budget? you might be able to find a nice combo deal on newegg
I want to upgrade my mobo so I can crossfire (going to order 2 5850s, prob one at a time) So honestly I am really looking for a better board!

what about the hydra boards. wouldnt you be able to use your gts for physics?
I'm not even sure how physx works to be honest with ya
explain?

well first the hydra boards that are expected soon should allow ati and nvidia cards to work together.

physics uses a dedicated card for the visual effect for example dust and explosions. as of now, only nvidia has this feature

The 5850 is a great GPU. The entire 5000 series from ATI are hard to get a hold of. AMD/ATI didn't anticipate this!
