AParsh135i over SD found this deal.

Intel DQ45EK Intel Q45 Socket 775 Mini-ITX Motherboard w/Dual DVI, Audio, GbLAN & RAID - Motherboard Only $26.99

Good for if you have some old C2D/C2Q CPUs collecting dust.
Would make a good budget HTPC iTX build.
Maybe not great for a main living room or Theatre room but for a bedroom setup.

  • New Intel Q45 Express chipset Motherboard (GMA 4500)
  • up to 8GB DDR2 (should have plenty is spare parts pile if not this isn't a deal for you with current DDR3 being so cheap)
  • Intel 82567LM Gigabit Ethernet Controller
  • four SATA controllers including one eSATA port
  • No backplate (Cables, I/O shield and Driver discs are not included)
  • No HDMI port - so HDMI to DVI adapter or HDMI to DVI cable
  • No digital sound out (standard Analog out or USB sound card or PCIe 1X sound card)

For a new build you can't really go wrong with FM2 build. but if you have the parts this could repurpose an old computers for not so much money.

My company has several of these boards in remote backup boxes at off site locations. Never had much trouble with them but fyi, the chipset heatsink on these get crazy hot. Might be worth replacing the TIM under the heat sink if you buy one.

It's funny because a long time ago I ordered a refurb motherboard without a backplate and I thought it wouldnt bother me, but it bothered me to no end. I guess I'm just OCD about that. Shame because Geeks.com has great deals on refurb motherboards all the time.

I think these EK's are new not refurb. BTW, I have a dq45cb at home with a C2Q in it and it lacks a backplate as well. Needless to say the board is the shape of a sattelite dish now around the cpu area

Maybe I will try to salvage one from an old board to try and straighten it out a bit. Two cores on that C2Q sit at 51c idle because of it.
