Okay, I downloaded and installed Ubuntu 10.10 and installed the ATI drivers. Everything went smoothly till I restarted my computer. Now it just comes to a console like in recovery mode and all I can do is long in.... I have attempted to reinstall the latest drivers but that didn't work... any help would be nice.

Also I installed an earlier version of modaliases.... of which came with my drivers. Do you think this caused this?

Any way to fix everything from console or do I have to reinstall?

Well I decided to reinstall my OS and I figured out what happend. Something funky happened after my ATI drivers installled and destroyed my Xorg let alone my drivers themselves were not even starting. After reinstalling and going through restricted drivers module and now things work.
