Getting 4GB of ram, need help? Rep+ for help!

I'm building a new PC with 4GB of RAM so i'll need a 64 bit version of windows vista, is it a good idea to buy 64 bit vista or should i just get 2GB of ram with 32 bit vista? The reason i'm wondering that is because i heard that the 64 has issues and stuff, and also the sound card i'm getting has no support for 64 bit.

Thanks! Rep+ for informative answers

4GiB will work fine (as in no errors) in a 32-bit, but addressing limitation will prevent the OS from utilizing all of it. With the price of 4GiB kits, there is not much reason to go for 2GiB for a new build, regardless of the OS you are using.

64-bit Vista (and even 64-bit XP, contrary to popular belief) have very few compatability/driver problems.

What sound card are you using that is supposedly incompatable with 64-bit Windows?

well you can getvista 64bit for like $10( image cup and ms software upgrade).
no issues here with 64bit.
what sound card are you looking to purchase?

I've been running 64 bit vista since August and have not had any compatability issues. But like Blameless said go for 4GB whether you get 64 bit or 32 bit.

I would get 64 Bit Vista if you planning to get 4GB of RAM or if you plan to stick to 2 GB just stick with XP. IMO 4GB from 2GB wasn't that a big of a upgrade.

I was thinking of getting the X-Fi Titanium but i guess i'll get 64 bit seeing that you guys don't have any issues with it, and i'll find another card.

Thanks all rep+
only problem is if u get 32 bit and 4Gb of RAM... windows only recongizes 3.5gb so its like ur wasting half a gb
hav 64 bit here and its fine

i noticed a decent difference between 2GB and 4GB. Now from 4GB to 6GB i cant say the same.

x-fi cards had some issues with vista. supposedly the titanium drivers fixed the problems for almost everyone, but i thought you should know going in a return may end up being necessary. unlikely, but possible.

64 bit at this point in time is the right way to go.

I would get 64 bit Vista with 4GB of RAM, 64 bit OS's have fewer problems than you think, and Vista 64 bit has even fewer than XP 64 bit.
Definitely go with the 4GB. Whenever I build a PC for someone, 4GB is the standard, especially if they want Vista. Right now, i'm running 8GB's in my two machines (Corsair & Patriot)

64 bit has been filled with *thoughts* of doom and gloom, I've been running Vista 64 since release and have had no issues that I didn't create.

You'll be just fine
