Getting a headache from stupidity...
Ok, today my girlfriends graphics card will be coming in, nVidia GeForce 6200 AGP, I gave her a 512 MB stick of nanyo ram (dunno if its pc3200 or pc2700) and her brother is trying to say the video card won't work cause the speed (which i am assuming he means bottleneck...???) and that the ram won't work because its not non-parity (which makes no sense Dx) and that you cant install a single stick or ram or mix ram stick (which made me want to choke him).
He says a class taught him all this stuff, with being nice, how do i tell her that hes a complete idiot?
and for clarification, this is the mobo

it just has the HS yellow with the letters MSI on it instead.
also, in response to the computer not booting to windows thread, he installed 2000 (probably pirated like ALL the software he installs -.-) and it apparently fixed it... oddly enough, wonder if he even knows what CMOS is...
also, specs are the computer are
p4 1.7 ghz
2x256 mb ram
i figure installing the ram will make it much faster, and the video card shouldnt bottleneck, if it does it wont be much cause my friend has a 5500 in his system with p4 1.7 ghz and he can play source games

That said, if the board takes DDR, it's probably new enough.

It's quite possible that if the board is AGP 1x/2x that an AGP 8x card will not work, or even be damaged if you try to use it.
That said, if the board takes DDR, it's probably new enough.

so he has about a 50-50 shot of it working (the card will be downclocked to 4x which is 266Mhz)
