Getting a Megashadow

I've decided that, for my upcoming build, I would get the Megashadow cooler. There is no performance difference between this and the Megahalems, right? As far as I know, the only difference is that the shadow is black. Anyways, are these the best possible fans I can get to attach to the mega? http://www.petrastechshop.com/12x38sadesan.html Also, for TIM, do I get Arctic Silver 5 or something else? And will I require anything extra to mount 2 of these fans in a push/pull config.? Speaking of that, is PP really effective? Also, the mobo I'm going to get is the Asus Extreme Rampage II. Will I be able to plug whatever fans I get into the mobo or do I need a controller? Thanks for helping.

When you say burn-in time what do you mean?

and yes you will need to find 38mm fan clips as the shadow only comes with 120x25mm fan clips. You can find them at SVC.com
The amount of time for the TIM to cure and provide Maximum temperatures

AS5 needs atleast 100 hours to settle before you know exactly how your temps are going to be, with OCZ and MX-3 you will know as soon as you apply it

as for the san ace fans if you plug them into the mobo they will run at 2900rpm which will be LOUD so I think you should buy a fan controller, the sunbeam rouhbust are good FCs and I have the scythe kaze master ace and I can vouch for it
Thanks for the replies. I am getting an Antec 1200 case and I just realized it doesn't have a grille in the bottom for PSUs that intake air from the bottom, so I don't know what PSU I am getting now (I was originally going to get a Kingwin Mach 1 1000w). So, can somebody recommend me a 1000W PSU that doesn't take in air from the bottom? Also, I've been reading around and it seems that, with the Antec 1200 case, nonmodular or semi-modular PSUs are preferred. Why is this?

I've never had to wait that long. Results have always been consistant after 1 to 2hrs. I've stop using OCZ Freeze because of Artic Silver 5. BTW...OCZ Freeze is a good thermal paste...I had decided to try AS5 since so many people were praising it and apparently I'm still using it after a couple of years.

Just flip the PSU upside down; fan will draw air from inside the case

There is also nothing wrong with putting a modular PSU in ANY case. Less cables = less hassle and better cable management.

Regarding your Megashadow: get a couple 120mm fans that push decent CFM (~70 works well) for push/pull setup.
Also FYI the Mega Shadow isn't black; just not polished like the original (photos can be deceiving, I know)

If you don't really care about what it looks like go for a Megahalems Rev. B and save yourself a few bucks

Don't forget about tuniq tx-2 or tuniq tx-3, newegg had tx-2 for cheaper then ocz freeze and they get about the same results and I found it incredibly easy to work with.
San aces are great fans PERIOD! And AS5 is amazing. but i used the TIM that came with the mega, and seemed to perform a little better....I don't exactly remember if there was a temp drop.

No, if you plug them into the motherboard you risk burning out the header. You're also wrong about the speed; the H1011, both the old model and the new one, run at 2600RPM max, not 2900 (if that's what the Kaze Master Ace reported, then it's wrong).

Also, BeastMode, PC Power & Cooling's 1kw TurboCool has a single fan at the back and no bottom fan, but it's not modular. The reason modular of some sort is preferred in the 1200 is because you'll have less trouble routing cables as there will be less of them. If you want an excellent half-modular unit with a single fan, being at the back, then I highly recommend the Antec Signature SG-850. Or, since you'll have the 1200, you can also get the CP-850, which has a single 120mm fan at the front of the unit, and is also half-modular (and made by Delta, like the Signatures).

Again if your looking for a nice fan and are willing to drop 20ish bucks a fan...San Aces are the way to go. Just get a fan controller. Sunbeam makes some cheap ones.
