Getting Into Eve Online

So I started the 21 day trial a few days ago and I think I like it enough to start paying for it. I do have one question though. If I buy the Eve Online Special Edition will I be able to use my account on it or will I need to start a new one? It comes with the game, 60 days of game time, and an exclusive ship.

I believe you just upgrade the trial account and make it a full one.
I know I can do that but then I'll have to buy the 60 days of time separately and I won't get the exclusive ship.

I think what he was saying was that when you upgrade the account, you have the choice to enter the key you received in the Eve box.

That's how it is with every other MMO I have played, not sure about Eve, though.

I have a friend I know that is really big into this game and he says its addictive but not to the point WarCrack seems to be.

He is like L33t status and would help me get started but the game would appeal to me more if it had a Star Trek or Star Wars theme to it.
Well I bought the game! I could have used the timecard on my Trial account but in order to get the ship I would have had to make a new account and trade it from one to the other. I just made a new account and I'm already farther than I was. I love it so far. It's so deep.

That's what she said.

What weapons are you using? I just moved to railguns (gallente character) from missiles (caldari character), and it's confusing as hell...

Direct damage weapons:

Energy Weapons: Amarr ships (to be effective)
Beam = Longe Range
Pulse = Close Range

Hybrid Weapons: Caldari and Gallente (to be effective0
Railgun = Long Range Mostly Caldari
Blaster = Close Range Mostly Gallente

Projectile Weapons: Minmatar (to be effective)
Artillery = Long Range
Autocannon = Short Range

Missile Weapons: Caldari ships mostly, but other races have ships that they're useful on. ANY DAMAGE TYPE, which is very useful for PvE. Very useful for Minmatar too, unless you're using vamps/neuts/cloak in extra slots.

Drones: Gallente ships mostly, but almost any ship bigger than a frigate can carry some and SHOULD carry some. Gallente have a lot of ships with drone bonuses on them. ANY DAMAGE TYPE, very useful for PvE.

Smartbombs: Limited use, don't use them anywhere but 0.0 unless you're a pirate, and then only in lowsec.

Would like to note that energy, hybrid, and projectile weapons can also do any damage type given the ammo or crystals(energy) loaded. I have an almost 2 year old character and 6 monther which I let lapse due to disinterest. I should be back before to long though. Have fun.. and I think that ship was just a vanity item anyways.

Right now since my best ship is limited to 2 turrets I have dual Gatling Railguns on my main ship (Tristan). I use the special vehicle that came with my game (Interbus Shuttle) as a Shuttle obviously. It's fast as all hell and great for zipping from station to station. My Main mining vessel is a Navitas at the moment.

I used to have shuttles all over the place when I played. Stacks of them.

Then I started jettign around in my pod instead of wasting isk on shuttles. I would rename it "PODPOCALYPSE" and no one would bother me. That was after they changed to warp to zero, of course. The pod goes into warp so fast and if you were lag free at the gate (which was usually the case in lowsec) most couldn't aquire you and get a shot off fast enough.

Besides, what good is clone insurance of you never use it?
Havegooda you suck! lol

Spart, useful programs: EVEMON and EFT...go to
www.battleclinic.com and download EVEMON...it will help you make a skill plan and it's the most used program ever. By the way, where do you live? (The system)

Oh, and BTW...you can "REDEEM CODES" in your account. The special edition have the code on the back, i think...put the code in your account (Hit ESC while playing and in the left bottom side of the window will appear)

EDIT*: Forget it, not possible lol
Hey everyone, I just bought it without trying the trial (I support the efforts - I can spare the $15 for a month of play).

I like it so far, slow start of course. I've never played one of these type games, but loved X-Com.

So I'm doing agent missions now - trying to build my dude. But I want to team up with people, I want action - I want battles!

Anyone know a quick way to do it.

My in-game name is the same as my steam -TechSargeGill
funny thing is - I was going to post this exact thread yesterday... good work dude

Yeah, wife and baby are away tonight - so I'm gonna check that link out (repped poster and forwarded it to myself already). I'll monitor this the rest of the day and add you tonight too!

Graphics are beautiful, I really want to get into this. FPS's are great, but I need a break.
