8800, the 9800 bottlenecks on higher resolution sizes.

Reason being the 8800 series cards are 320 bit cards, the 9800's are 256 bit cards. On lower resolutions, the 9800 will pull ahead in a lot of scenarios, but if you want to play on reasonable settings with around say a 1920x1200 resolution, or slightly less, the 8800 is the way to go.

Hell, at the price you can get them for on ebay I'd get two an put them in SLI.

To give a little insight, I used to run a single 8800GTS 640 on my old system. I ran the two monitors in my sig rig, with the 24'' being my game screen at 1920x1200 - and that card ran DoW2 perfectly on mid-high settings. Not the greatest benchmark game in the world, but it does serve a purpose.

8800GTS 512 is better then the 9800GT for sure.
