The purpose of this attempt was to be able to use my 2.4 Northy at it's max OC with STOCK cooling in this old case I had. The case had to be fully assembled and the CPU could not go any higher that 60C in Prime 95. In addition, it had to be ghetto...

Step 1. Teh Case

Like I said, OLD (7+ years). Sorry it's sideways, but you get the idea.

Step 2. Eliminate the hotspot found at the top of the case during initial testing.

This worked beautifully and vented the hot air as expected.

Step 3. Cool the drives down.

Since this case is so old, the 3.5" drive rack was simply hung under the 5.25" rack. Not in any way good for cooling. I secured the rack to the bottom of the case with zip ties through the old speaker holes. It holds quite well actually. Now it's in front of the 80mm fan as it should be.

Step 4. Eliminate the "dead spot" in airflow found under the video card.

Please observe the tie wraps meeting the ghetto requirement. This was also successful in moving the air as needed.

Step 5. Let's cool the CPU!

That is a 1.1A blower out of a HPD5000. Above it is the speed control I installed to keep that thing quiet. You can also see the stock cooling here. The second pic is to demonstrate the usefulness of tie wraps.

Step 6. Let's get that air to the CPU!

Yes, I made that myself.

Step 7. Proof that it works.

This was just an experiment to test what I could accomplish with crap supplies. I guess it turned out pretty good!

Speedfan would read up to 63C and then it would reboot. Since ghetto-fying it, it's been 100% stable. And now that the AS Ceramique has cured a lil, I'm down to 57C.
