Gigabyte 6850 and OCing, are there better options?

Hi,

I am pretty much set on the 6850 but are there better options than the Gigabyte windforce one? I can get the HIS and power color cards for a comparable price but I'm leaning towards the gigabyte as it has 2 fans, suggestions?

Also, how well do these OC? I have heard that you can get these to 1050Mhz but I would be happy with 850 if its possible.

Oh and my MB is the ASRock 890GX-Extreme3 890G.

Can't be much of a difference. The "recent" Gigabyte ones are usually very nice and cheap.

Eventually find a review, decide and then go for it or not.

Ok thanks, the reviews tend to vary a bit so I was kind of unsure as to which was best.

How do these OC anyway? Any threads I should be looking at?
Get this badboy if you can find it.

It's pretty much unanimously the best 6850. Gigabyte is very good though as is Asus.

I'm afraid that if I get that card it might murder me on the way home, looks insanely cool.

Unfortunately there is no newegg in Aus as you would know, and MSY doesn't seem to have it.

Anyway, out of curiosity do you happen to know if it is double width?
You could always get the GTX 460 .. The aftermarket coolers are more mature by now.

Sorry didn't realise you were from Australia! Check out PCCG they have it.

And yeah all 6850's are double width.

Actually having said this though. I would pick up a 6870, they are only a little more than a 6850 and can offer around 10fps more in many games.
