Hello there OCN...
i can get those 2 motherboards for almost the same price..im not interested (for now) for Crossfire and i am having DDR2 memory...
the Gigabyte Suits my cause its a gaming chipset from the very least reviews i read, can have full PCI-e x16 if i decide later on to Crossfire...
the Asus is also good, havent read my reviews on it but it gets DDR3 memory which i dont have BUT comes with a 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz Asus RAM as a bundle in the price of the mobo...
so which is? which would u pick and why? shall i stick with DDR2 and the X48 good for overclocking chipset? Or go with DDR3 memory and the P45 chipset which i dont know how good for overclocking is in that specific Asus mobo?

Asus P5Q3 Deluxe-WiFi is better motherboard of those two..

P45 chipset on Asus is much better and easier to overclock, generates less heat, hits higher FSB etc....

Asus P5Q3 Deluxe has better power managment for CPU (16 Phase CPU PWM) and GREAT BUILD QUALITY..

Definitely go with Asus P5Q3 Deluxe-WiFi as you'd get 2GB of DDR3 RAM with the bundle..

Buy yourself 2GB more of DDR3 1333MHz ram (which is very cheap these days) and you're good to go..

You would not get much further with your current low end DDR2 RAM in Gigabyte X48-DS5 mobo and you would be forced to buy better DDR2 RAM (1066MHz) to be able to OC..

And DDR2 is much more expensive than DDR3 now-days..

also if i leave that 1333Mhz DDR3 on the 1_1 and 2_1 channel and put 2 more sticks of DDR3 on 1_2 and 2_2 channels will those need to be the same speed? or even be the same model of memory?

It doesn't need to be the same model, just make sure that it's the same speed (1333MHz) and the same CAS latencies (example 9-9-9-24)..

Also look out at rated voltage and make sure that it's the same (example 1.65V)..

That DDR3 1333MHz RAM shouldn't be hard to match trust me..
