Hi,

Does anyone know if the Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7 motherboard will boot from M.2 NVME? - Or whether the board supports this?

I know some Z270 motherboards do but I've not seen this on the Gigabyte website unless I've missed this. It does support RAID on the two M.2 slots but no mention of bootable NVME?

Hi,

It looks like it does work but other users have had a lot of messing around to get it to work - I'll add more comments

Another user on another forum commented on the problem

Windows 10 installs native on NVME with a default driver, any skylake board in UEFI mode should present the drive to the OS and be visible for the windows installer, I've built half a dozen systems with 600p already.

Does this imply that Windows 7 wouldn't do this?

I'm just trying to get the facts straight for when I do this - And we are talking about booting from an NVME such as Intel 750 or similar
