Copy & Paste photos. You can also copy and paste photos. Now you will be able to select multiple photos by tapping the action button, copy some of them, and paste them in an email, ready to send.

3G Tethering. This feature will allow you to connect your iPhone 3G to a laptop, to use it as a modem to access the internet. Carriers still have to sign-off on it, and probably charge more for it. None have announced it yet.

Turn-by-turn directions. Developers will also be able to create turn-by-turn applications using the GPS information from the iPhone and combining it with their own maps, without depending on 3G connectivity or Google.

wow . .threee things that should have been in the first one
. . i mean they're great updates but no reason for them to be in the V3.0 . . . Its like apple is a genius in a regular class, only doing as much as it has to in order to keep the lead instead of actually trying and doing a good job.

This is making avoiding buying an iPhone very difficult. Sigh.

My SE W510 (2006 is when I got it) I think it was had tethering ablities. My G1 is a 1st gen phone and has like 6 apps for tethering already. Hell G1 has bluetooth tethering already as well.

What a rip off. Something built into the software and may have to pay more to use it.

Doesn't matter, It costs an arm and a leg monthly. Even if the phone were free with a 3 year contract, I still wouldn't get it. I can't spend anymore than $25.00 CAD a month.

Wonder if they'll make you pay for this, like they did with firmware for the itouch

Tethering is nothing to get excited about, it's gonna cost you a fair amount. AT&T hasn't announced pricing yet, but I know for verizon, you have to pay for a data plan, and then an additional $60 on top of that for tethering. I would expect something similar from AT&T.

Jailbreak and tether for free.

Doesn't work like that. There's no way to get around the fee.

I can tether if I wanted to on my phone even though I haven't paid for it. Only problem is, if they catch you doing it (they will), they take the liberty of adding the fee onto your next bill.

Haven't done it to me.

I'm sure if you tether A LOT they would find out. But for quick surfing, it should be fine.

It would be easily detectable by doing a deep-packet analysis on the outgoing data streams... A process that could be easily automated. Of course, I don't work for a phone company, so I have no idea what systems, if any, they have set up to detect illegal usage.

AT&T might be a bit more liberal about it, but verizon is breathing down the necks of those who do it without paying. I know several people from another forum who have gotten caught just using it once or twice a month. Of course, they could always terminate your contract and slap you with a huge penalty, if they wanted to. You agreed to the terms after all, and it specifically says you can't use your phone as a modem.

I dont get the hype about the iPhone. I really don't like it. My Nokia N80 already does most of the features that it "Currently" lacks. It's got 3.2mega Pixel camera, 3.5g, Copy and Paste, Multiple Support for media, flash player, real player, and can even download awesome apps through Mosh and has built WiFi. Did i mention my N80 is 4 years old?

Why does apple have to be so up itself with there products!!!

The only reason why I got mine was because of the software backing.

There is an app for everything you can think of.
