Which should I do? since I'm selling my 280s would going 2 4890s now be worth it or going 2 5870s (I'm guessing they'll follow the x870 scheme) down the road be more worth it even though I have 16x and 8x pci-e on the UD3P?

Well normally I would say go for what is the best now, but with DX11 support just around the corner on the 5xxx series I would wait for those

They'll be out in September supposedly, they'll be easy to get late September or early August.

I would go for the 2 4890's, they're beasts of a card, and I would think the 5xxx Series would be pretty expensive..

They should release at the normal price range, $250-300. That's what I'm expecting, and I plan on getting Sapphire's non-reference once they come out

I'd wait the 1-2 months, the 4890s are great, but it's close enough now to wait.

That is an easy question to answer ...
If you are selling your 280, then what graphics card will you be using in the meantime?
If nothing, then will you be happy to go without a computer for a few months (assuming that there are no delays and that it is affordable when released).
If you have another graphics card, then will you be happy with this other card for the time being (probably at least 4-6 months)? If so, wait. :)

I have more then one rig, I mean like I'd have an 8800GT and a 9600gso to tide me over (and a laptop) until the new cards come out.

Lookin like I'm waiting for the 58xx now.
