Going in Cyles over Motherboard Choosing ......... Fried my Brain!

I at first chose (Based on Feedback from Many users here
GA-Z77X-UP5 TH (rev. 1.0)
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4279

But then I Saw
its Wifi apps .......... for remote desktop and pictures are only for iOS
AND i dont use a iPhone ............ i Am a android phone Guy
http://www.gigabyte.com/microsite/306/images/wifi.html

apps page:
http://www.gigabyte.com/gigabyte.aspx?s=105

See only for iOS ........... Nothing for Android

Asus has something similar
WiFi Go

Q3.But Can i Use the Asus Softwares on Gigabyte Motherboard ?
for Wifi Only

[I am Asking this Because ASUS uses a Broadcom Wifi Solution having Broadcom Drivers ......... just overlying software is Asus Made .................... And Asus has Android Apps
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asus.wifi.go&hl=en
for its Remote Desktop and other Wifi Things]
..................................................................................................................................................
My Problem Now:
Q1.Many users already told me that Tunderbolt is useless and i should reconsider .
Well after the above mentioned problem i am reconsidering but
then which one to take ?

I am Considering Now Something like
ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE
or
P8Z77-V Pro/Thunderbolt
or
Some Good Motherboard with (Many USB 3.0+Wifi) having android remote desktop support

Over
GA-Z77X-UP5 TH (rev. 1.0)
Q2.Am i going the right way or should i stick with GA-Z77X-UP5 TH (rev. 1.0) and just use third party android remote desktop software ?

Q4.Wifi Go Engine (ASUS) vs Other Third party Remote Desktop Apps Bundle Which is Good ?

John, thanks for thinking of me when you linked this to me But really I am not the type of person to help you decided which pre-packaged software is going to be best for you to do someone.

I never use pre-packaged software because there is almost always something else out there for better.

At the moment I am using Logmein.com it is installed on all of my computers. I use the free version or maybe you can call it the infinite trial version. I have the paid app (for free) on my ipad and iphone.

Just to show you that it works with android https://secure.logmein.com/welcome/android/

Tie this with something like dropbox and you should be good to go. I remember I used to be able to just drop a new OC kernel in my drop box modify from my android then flash it then let other know how it worked and then share to them through drop box so they could change the kernel without DLing it from an unkown source.

I'm not sure what the price for ignition is but I want to say I paid over $100 for it but got it reimbursed for me. There are free versions of all the software and I have been using logmein for a very very long time. As long as they have been around.

I know there are probably better stuff out there or more powerful but they are very streamlined take care of my needs and have NOTHING to do with your motherboard.

Get the Gigabyte!

There are lots of remote control apps. Log me in, Team Viewer, Splashtop remote, and many more

If I remember it right, you were the guy who wanted to buy a Thunderbolt capable board? And now you think otherwise. In that case, you can get UD5H-WB, or any other cheaper board + WiFi module depending on your other needs... Also I only see Thunderbolt useful for myself in 1 way at the moment. If anybody makes external HDD enclosure that can handle 5-10 HDDs with a single Thunderbolt interface that's going to be epic
biggrin.gif
.

What will happen long term? I don't think Thunderbolt will take over the world. It'll be useful in certain cases like the one I listed above.

UP5-TH has lots of things that make it a better board than lets say Deluxe. Thunderbolt is one extra feature that it has. So is headphone amp, and better VRM.

I quickly went over what Asus offers in WiFi Go package, and there are definitely alternatives for them. It's not like WiFi or Bluetooth are proprietary technologies lol. Board manufacturer's software is not the only one you can use.

Also how important that for you? I know I'll never use it. I access my PC from my phone either through Windows local network or SFTP. I can use Log Me In for remote control, and Dropbox/Skydrive for picture sharing.

If you'll list what features of it you see yourself using, it'll help me to recommend 3rd party apps that can do the same.

Yes you Remember Correct
I Still think its a good addon ...... but many oc.net members think its just an extra cost just like firewire a few years before
and would never be used ........ thats why the dilemma.

OK ................ hm............. logmein is based on internet not wifi i suppose
and i want a free solution not a paid one.
and i wont be using remote desktop through internet.......................( costly internet in my country)

Is there any Free Software / opensource Software ?

Why Cannot i use the ASUS Wifi Go Engine in another Motherboard ? ................................. they wont let me install it in a non asus machine right ? .. BTW ASUS Uses Broadcom Wifi

Firewire didn't have benefits over USB if I remember it right. I think it was slightly faster. Thunderbolt is twice as fast as USB 3.0, and basically has no latency since it's based of PCI-E. Still it's hard to say what will happen, but I can pretty much say for sure it won't become mainstream anytime soon. Will it be useful for certain scenarios? Yes.

I personally open FTP on my phone or PC. Depending on which way you prefer. There are different ways like AirDroid, and probably lots more, but I prefer that.

And I am sure that there are some Samba Servers will basically made your phone visible in Windows Network.

Skifta works OK for me. There are lots of DLNA apps in Play Store.

Quick search in PlayStore brings results. Found this, but didn't look much into it. The only reason why I would think of using it is for HTPC

Splastop can definitely do that, but it's paid. I got it for free from Amazon Free App of the day, but you can search for alternatives.

Most likely. Gigabyte uses Atheros, but it's a mini-PCI-E card, so you can change it if you want.

For most of these (if not all) you don't even need a WiFi card. You just need a WiFi router, and properly set local network.

For FTP use FTP Server from market. There'll be lots of different apps that do the same thing when you search for it. Choose the one you like, or works for you.

Most routers on the market are already in local sharing mode. I don't want to spend time explaining unless it's going to be necessary lol. So just connect to your home WiFi network with your phone, open that app, and type the given IP a dress on your PC's FPT client, or even web browser.

If it doesn't work list the model of your router.

Most likely Asus software won't install on non Asus board.

You just jumped from $240 to almost $400 lol. Not really. MVE has worse VRM than UP5, but still good, and supports 4-way SLI and Thunderbolt at the same time. There are few boards that can do it at the same time, so MVE makes sense only if you need both.
