what happens when you exceed the HTT 1000 limit on 939s?

I've heard you can corrupt the harddrive, what else?

Its just usually an unstable bus speed with no real benefit. You sometimes can make it past 1000 (2000) but not by much, except with this DFI board that lets 2000+ stable.

I just checked and my LTD Bus Frequency is set to 5X FSB!!!!
That's 1.3Ghz at 2.6Ghz CPU speed!! But maybe if I set that to 4X I could get a more stable high overclock. Also, just wondering, what's the best frequency to set AGP and PCI speed? I have mine set at the highest, 74mhz/37mhz.

lower your HTT to x4. As far as your AGP/PCI, you want those at default, I would not raise them at all, instability can occur..

Uhh.. Haveing them higher than 33/66 is really bad. If you dont want to fry/become instable then set them down.

I changed the bus to X4 and the AGP/PCI frequency to 66/33. I'm already seeing some improvements for overclocking. I've been busy since doing that with installing new case fans (Blue LED Cooler Master Quiet ones), and a new mouse (Logitech), and installing FEAR. haha. But once I get some time from playing with this stuff, I'll see how far I can overclock now.

hey I gotta question I have a 3700+ and I am new to overclocking and whatnot, but is the HTT only 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x and 5x?like is there any way to set it at 3.5x? what I mean is I want to down my mulitplyer to 10 and have it running 280 (2.8Ghz) but I would I have to set my HTT to 3x (840) to remain stable cause if I have it at 4x it would be 1120?

sorry I just need some help understanding this.

i'm with ya there. I'm an old hand at ocing intel cpus, but these newfangled AMD set-ups are a whole new thang.

wait nevermind I just found out my answer, I need to have the HTT under 1000, so I take either 250X11 or 280X10, soo with the 250x11 (250X4HTT) I get 1000 exactly! but with the 280x10 I need to drop my HTT to 3x (280X3=804HTT)

so bottom line does it really matter which one I use?

Higher FSB is faster than lower FSB and a higher multipliar, and you have 1608 HT with the second one, so go with that one.

and the first is 2000, so thats higher, i would use the 250x10 and htt of 4x, but actually im not really shure if the performance gain is noticable becuase of the other factors like the ram frequency which cant reach 2000mhz not even in daul channel mode.

Some motherboards don't like the HTT any lower than 800. But really, you will see absolutely no difference between 800 and 1000. The system doesn't really make use of all that bandwidth anyway. If your board can run higher than 1000 HTT, cool, but there's not really any benefit and it may make you shaky.
