i just got a new job and its time for me to upgrade.
my current rig is in my sig. i will be replacing my motherboard, RAM, GPU and maybe my CPU. eventually SDD but im currently happy with my RAID performance everything else will still be used.
im having trouble deciding if i want to upgrade to an AM3 board with DDR3 or sell my 965 and build a core I5 based system. i want to get a GTX 470 this time around want to SLI in the future.
there are tons of SLI/crossfire capable boards on intels side of the spectrum but only two SLI capable boards for AM3 that i have found but i havent been able to find any good reviews for them. ill be getting ~$700 a paycheck so my budget for the jump to DDR3 will be about $500-$600 for the DDR3 motherboard upgrade. GPU upgrade will be on a separate budget in the future
i want to know what OCN thinks, go AM3 and test my luck with an AM3 Nforce 980a mother board and have extra cash or go LGA 1156 with an i5 750 or i7 860 and have the freedom to go SLI or CrossfireX when ever i choose?
