You can't go wrong with anything from NAD, Marantz, Cambridge Audio... the list goes on. For good entry level amplifiers (but by no means crappy) have a look at the Marantz PM5003, Marantz PM6002, Nad C315BEE, Nad C325BEE and the Cambridge Audio 340A (or 540/640A if you can find a good price). I would post some direct links for you, but I'm not sure what the best sites are for Hifi separates in the US.

I've been looking into basic schematics and stuff, trying to see if I think I'd be able to build one or not. I'm understanding the diagrams and am going to go for it within the next couple weeks. I'm going to build myself a portable but I'd like to get more experience than just that before I build myself a really nice amp for my Ed. 9's, so I'd love to build you one first. Just tell me if you're interested. It may take a while though since I've never built an amp before.

What happened to Bose? Thats top of the line when it comes to audio, not sure if it connects to computers though. But worth a look.

Im not entirely sure what you are asking do you want me to buy an amp that you will make, test an amp you will make or some combination of that?

sorry if it is obvious (had a killer history test today so that is about all I can think of atm
)

I fully recommend the Marantz PM5003 to you as well. I'm currently using it to power my KEF IQ1's and it sounds great. I had a listen to the Cambridge Audio 640a on these speakers too, but the Marantz really sold itself to me in sound quality and it's great looks despite being about £100 cheaper than the Cambridge Audio.

Bose hasn't made a decent speaker for over 3 decades (just the THD values alone are a good example). There are much better options for the money.

Marantz, Denon, Yamaha, and Onkyo all make pretty good receivers in the $200-400 price range that should fit your speakers pretty well. I would however try to find a place to try it out ahead of time. Some speaker/receiver combination work much better than others. For instance I have a set of the B&W CM series speakers that I really didn't fall in love with until I paired them with a Rotel amp.

I just picked up a nice Marantz power amp, actually arrived today. For budget the emitova amps are supposed to be pretty good.

I'd really like to try a pair of Monarchy SM70 pro's in balanced mode

Also looked at the Odyssey Stratos

np. I've seen the monarchy and odyssey amps go for nice prices on a'gon if you check. Or you could always go vintage

If you watch and don't commit too soon you can find a good deal on a nice used amp like the rare Marantz amp I picked up. It's a SM500U, but rare enough that google doesn't even find anything.
