Good Case Fans 120mm/140mm?

683 Views 16 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  trogalicious
I'm getting a CM690, and getting 2 140mm for the top, 2 Blue LED 120s for the front, and 2 regular 120s for the inside, and I'd like to spend under $40 total on the fans. Can someone toss out some newegg links?

Meh, close to newegg. I didn't pick any out for you since I don't know how loud/quiet you want your fans. Yate Loon's are great for the price IMO.
Scythe SY1225SL12SH 120mm "Slipstream"
Air Flow 110.31 CFM
Noise Level 37.00 dBA

and for the price of 8.99 , best fan ever.
Ah, I had those Slipstreams on my Wish List. So they are good? I also have two 140mm Scythes.
I have these in my cm 690 for top exhaust http://www.crazypc.com/products/5750.html I have been very happy with them
If you want to go with cheap fans, get some yate loons, and stay away from the slipstreams, they're not good quality at all.
Where's all the Slipstream haters in here? Last time there was a thread about fans and slipstreams were mentioned they got absolutely shut down for the cheap build quality.

I'd get slipstreams either way, they may be lighter and clearly cheaper but they push massive ammounts of air for the noise they produce, and are cheap.

I'm running 5 slipstreams in my current case, plus the FM121 on my 1283 and the Xigmatec stock fan in the out in the back, and one of the stock black fans on my harddrive cage pointed straight at my video cards. I get amazing temps. The slipstreams are a great buy.

They just arn't as quiet as I would like. They are OK, but YL is much better IMO.

indeed , they are so quiet and pushes so much air and for the price of 9 bucks , you can't get any better than that.

Agreed...YL beats them as far as cheap fans go.

Yeah they push a lot of air until you place them in front of something restrictive; like a filter, heatsink, or even a fan grille. Not to mention they're overrated on their specs. I have a "110CFM 37 dBA" slipstream and my san ace 1011 that is rated at 102 CFM and 39 dBA is quieter and pushes more air..even in an open air environment.

No, don't let that 110Cfm number deceive you. Under real world conditions those fans only push around 80-90 cfm and are sleeveless, so cheap crap. I've got four in case right now (made a mistake a while back) and they dont really push that much air compared to stock Antec 1200 fans. Also due to the fact that they are sleeveless I dont think you can mount them vertically, one of my slipstreams pretty much stopped working in two months after I had it mounted on a 3850 w/ a accelero s1 rev 2.

I think yate loons are really great fans for the price, def the 140mm fans. I have 6 in my case and they keep it cool, when I have this overclocked i7 and the 4850x2 which both push so much heat out into the case and the yate do an excellent job, and were only 25 bucks for all 6

I bought 6 case fans of Yate Loons last night, 4 120mms, and 2 140s. Thanks for the help, and sorry for the late replies. I'm going to give +rep to the guys who posted the really helpful info, so thanks.

I'm running to 140mm medium yates in the top of my 690, 1 140mm medium yate as an intake, 2 120mm medium yates on the front of the case as intakes, and 1 more 120mm yate medium as an exhaust.

They're simple inexpensive fans, and they get my vote.
