Well, after much pondering and considering and thinking and things of that sort, I've decided that going Core 2 is just not worth the immense amount of money it would cost me. I plan to stick with AMD, at least for now, and make some much-needed upgrades. I'm going to dump my 19" HP CRT for the E207WFP, sell my BH-5 and pick up 2 gigs of Ballistix Tracers, get a SATA HDD, DVD burner, and an Opty 165 a bit later. All this will end up costing less than going Core 2, and will give me a decent boost in performance, productivity, and enjoyment.
AMD FTW!

Good to hear. I am sticking with 939, too. After my upgrades, we'll have fairly similar rigs. Maybe we can have an OC contest? I'll probably lose, but it'll be a good time.

I'm just hoping I can get about 2.8 out of the 165... I know being dual core counts for something, but I don't want to lose TO much raw power from my Sandy.

well, I'd like to , but my mobo is holdin me back. I took my hsf off today to find that I have a KACAE 0551, which should be reaching 3.0 stable, but it's not happenin. So, since I have to get a new mobo to upgrade, my next move will probably be to Core2Duo.

I've got it pretty much planned out; HD before X-mas, E207WFP + DVD-RW + Far Cry for Xmas, then I save up, get the 165, sell my 3700+ and BH-5, use a 256mb stick for a week or so until my Ballistix Tracers arrive.

Chozart says that the 165 is supposed to reach 3.0 on air, so with that awesome mobo, it should be attainable, unless you get a bum stepping.

Some sweet steppings (CCBBE 0610 or CCB1E 0609s, I believe) will reach that high, but it's not the average. "Bum" steppings tend to reach about 2.6 Ghz... still a sweet overclock.

That's nice. Unfortunently, I do not have $1000. I also have a kick-ass motherboard that I don't want to get rid of.
