Are there any advantages the WD 640 AAKS drives have over their 320GB brethren when in RAID 0? Does either have a clear advantage over a typical WD 160GB Blue (8MB)? I seem to remember some threads where the 640's proved to be fantastic in a RAID array. Velociraptors are out because of cost and Raptors are out because they sound like a Harley Davidson.

Yeah, the AAKS are great drives. The AALS have 32Mb cache vs the 16Mb of the AAKS, but the only advantage is with larger files. it really isnt a deal breaker for the AAKS. Here are my RAID 0 results with 128K on X38 chipset:

The 640's will be a little faster than the 320's, both will be a lot faster than 160's due to their use of platters with twice the density of the 160's.
