Currently I'm using a HD4770 video card (Sold the 7870 awhile back). In the next few months, I'll be converting to mITX, so keep that in mind.

Couple of video cards I'm looking at.

750Ti $150ish
750 $100ish

270X $200ish
280X $300ish

I'll be playing at 1080P the latest games, as well as 120hz on competitive online games (CS:GO etc)

I'm hearing about DX12 now, are current cards going to be compatible? If not I might just wait. Hopefully end of year they'll be out?

I'm a bit AMD biased, but at the same time, I value performance per dollar. Thoughts on what I should do? The HD4770 is showing it's age, but it's a prime backup video card that will still play games I like at reasonable settings. I can wait a bit, or pull the trigger now.

Resolution?cpu?psu?

A r9 270x should be the same performance of the hd 7870,btw there are hd 7870s at 170 on newegg

If you want futureproof get a card with 3gb vram like the r9 280x (or) 280

If yoy are going to replace it in less than 2 years then a hd 7870/r9 270x should be enough if you donr care to max out all graphixs details

My sig rig. Might try to get a smaller 350-400w PSU (Depending on the video card I get)

Yeah it has plenty of horsepower I would need, but it might not get DX12 support, and that might be more of a limiting factor. Any news on DX12 video cards?

for the card it is your choice, if you want 1gb vram more OR NOT and an extra 20% more performance, remember the R9 280 non x is a HD 7950

and a 400w psu for a r9 280x is enough maybe 450w if you want oc to the cpu

If you're going MITX then I'd say a R9 280/R9 280X because you won't be able to crossfire or SLI.

The issue is GM200/GM204/Gm206 Maxwell is coming in 2H 2014 so your investment is going to be diminished greatly.

Where are you finding $300 R9 280Xs?

They pop up randomly on Tiger and some other sites. Almost jumped the gun on one, but I might wait for Q4 to get DX12

The thing is will your case fit a full GPU? if not, you might want to go for the MSI GTX 760 ITX if you need to buy something now.

If you think about a 280x you better buy a used 7970 because they perform similar if clocked. How ever if you are using matx system with a small case I guess, then you will have issues with heat.

There are plenty of cases out there people use, that are mITX and don't have heat issues. You just have to do it right. Anyways I'll be holding out for DX12 to make this upgrade it looks like.
