I upgraded from a 9600gso 384mb and the 4850 was only 65$.
Q1: CCC doesnt open when i installed 10.6 but did when i installed 10.5.

(i did use driver sweeper and what not).
Q2: What is a good fan profile for the card; using rivatuner?
like when you goto the fan tab how should i set the table up in auto because it reaches 88C in Furmark and 3dmark06.

If you can get CCC to work, use CCC for your fan profile. You can even hot-key it with the key of your choice. And as for CCC not showing up, I would say just revert back to 10.5.

I stayed with 10.5(how much of a difference is there between the two and does anyone know when 10.7 is coming out) i dont want to use CCC because it stays at one constant speed(i know you mentioned hotkeys but....) rivatuner is just so much easier.

10.6 gives me terrible performance even with my HD 5850. I had the chance to use 10.6 with my crossfired HD4870's and with a single HD 4870 and all three situations just had terrible results in my experience. I did jump from 10.3 to 10.6, though. But I can say that from 10.3 to 10.5 I noticed a difference in crossfire and single GPU solution over 10.3's. Even with my HD 5850 now it's the best driver I've used.
