Firmware Update method

1. Unpack the compressed files

2. Copy the file "MERGE.bin" to a freshly FAT formatted USB memory drive and plug into service port (USB).

3. Connect the monitor's power behind the monitor

4. Power On

5. When power is applied, LED will flash green to red. Wait until the flashing stops. The time is approximately three to four minutes

6. After the update, and then remove the USB memory Unplug the power from the wall outlet and power up again

Got trigger happy and decided to Guinea Pig one of these monitors.

Can't find any dead pixels.

Out the box in english

Has a delay of up to 20 ms over my Asus PB 287Q (TN panel listed at 1 ms)
Input lag when compared to Asus PB287Q TN 4k Panel
PB 287Q is about 20 ms faster.

No real visible bleed.

Much clearer picture than the PB 287Q

Aside from that, Not entirely sure what to check for or how. Anyone got any suggestions or requests?

Bad news - Any hopes of "correcting" the backlight diffuser gap behavior mentioned in earlier posts is not really practical.

Per spec sheet controller maxes out at 60hz for anything over 1080p...hence why success hasn't been had running at higher refresh rates, etc.

Interesting, per eBay listings it appears to be same T-con used on the panels in the LG 55UB8500 and 49UB8500.

Although I didn't capture a good picture of it, the reason for the backlight diffuser gap is due to the way LG incorporated the edge lighting in this display. The edge lighting assembly essentially sits on top of the diffuser and would somehow have to be moved out of the way before attempting to bring the backlight and diffuser closer to the lcd. Not to mention the plastic assembly that holds the LG panel together is designed around this and would also have to be modified. Yeah...it would be a pretty involved project to say the least.

Update - For the UHD420 HDMI 2.0 Version I'd say we can pretty safely say Wasabi Mango went with the new K-4500 LCD controller from the same Kang JIN company.

From the Timing Table in the specsheet it looks almost an exact match to the K-4000 so I wouldn't expect to much in terms of anything over 60hz when going 1080p or higher.

If you're not looking for hdmi 2.0 specifically I see not much reason in spending more for the newer model. Just my 2 cents... maybe better resell value though?

The 1ms and 5ms specs are for pixel response time (usually GTG which is how long a pixel takes to go from grey, to white to grey again) which affects how much ghosting the monitors exhibit. What you're measuring is input lag which is the input-to-photon latency, and your TN panel would also have a noticeable delay over a CRT (which have no input lag).

I think ambient light makes more difference. For comparison sake I'm trying to measure room ambient light with Light Meter app but it show grossly inconsistent numbers on different devices...

I get 4:4:4 on my Acer B326HK at the office which is well lighted and 8:8:8 in the afternoon light at home on the Samsung JU6700. Will try again later after sunset in room light.

The ms refers to the grey to grey pixel response time, not the delay, and like the Flat Panels Stop Watch Timer, is not accurate (more information). The Refresh Rate Multi Tool is the only accurate and free program which can be used to compare monitors delays, but Windows Aero must be disabled.

some more pictures would be cool, also how are the pbp features does it do 4way pbp like the crossover 40"?
is it true 10bit panel and hows the remote, osd and stand?

Believe it is true 10-bit color, remote seems like a piece of crap, but that probably has something to do with the fact that I can't read Korean. When I get home I'll check out the PiP and such and get some more pictures

Stand is just two legs that bolt into the back, it's not adjustable. The stand works fine and it's pretty stable, but it's basically just two "T" shapes bolted to the back out of it.

After sunset numbers:

Achieva Shimian (IPS) contrast depends on angle. IPS glow at the screen bottom makes it hard to distinguish below 7. Straight at the center it would be 4-5.

Sharp TV: 3-4

This result seems to be consistent with typical IPS contrast numbers 1:800-1:1000, compared to VA 1:3000.

TN panel: 1:1:1-2:2:2. This raises a suspicion that your monitor (WM 42") is TN. Do you notice color shift? IPS glow at the screen bottom (rather than darkening for TN)?

P.S. While at it, I would test couple projectors too:)

I want to buy one of these man. Is the input lag make it impossible to play games, do you notice being terrible? Leggy, ghosting. Also, are the other ports hdmi 2.0? How many display ports?

Seems fine to me, only played some GTA V on it so far, no noticable response lag or ghosting.

1 DP 1.2

3 HDMI 1.4 ports, no HDMI 2.0

Again, I'm no monitor expert, but it does seem superior to my Asus PB287Q in every way.

On the con's list, there were no screws for the leg stands, had to go dig up for screws from my random bolt salvage jar to set them up, the Bezel is pretty much garbage as well.
