Good purchase for me, got a sapphire again, upgraded from my broken X600Pro.
Once again ATI offers a great mainstream card for a great price, mine was $30 less than any 6600GT. Got it at NCIX and express shipping got it to me in a day, great card, plays all I need at near max settings, good buy for all who are looking for a good but not so expensive PCI-E/AGP card

Good for you. I considered the X1600, but decided to stay with nVidia. X1600 is a pretty good card. What are the clocks on it?
Core: 500 mhz
Mem: 810 mhz

Source VST (all highest, 4xAA 8xAF 1024x768): 76.71fps

I haven't gotten into overclocking it yet as my PC lacks a proper cooling system. I expect a decent overclock on the core and a small one on the memory. The card runs very quiet, but can get pretty warm under load.

I guess sometime later this week I will try to download and use Aquamark and bench a little.

Overall I'm happy, SM 3.0 makes games I used to play on my X600 look much greater and AVIVO is good because I watch a lot of movies and plan on watching some high-def stuff in the future too.
are you telling me you guys managed to run an X1600pro PCI-e sapphire stable? when i run mine at stock speeds or in underclock it crashes my games!!!!. What drivers and cooling do you have on it?

I have stock cooling and temps are 55 idle and 72 (+) gaming. The following games work like a charm:

HL2
HL2 lost coast
CS:S
BF2
Rainbow Six: Lockdown
F.E.A.R.
Age of Empires 3
Call of Duty 2
GTA: San Andreas

Every game I played plays well, no crashing ever. And my PSU is only at 305w and it all works fine
My card is 256mb though.

Drivers are ATI 6.2 official.

Hope this helped in one way or another

Yes the $20 is definitely worth it. Normally gfx cards that have 512mb RAM cost a lot more than 256 or 128mb counterparts. Although you may not need all 512mb in all games, it'll sure be bragging rights and future proof. If it was $50 or more I would say forget it...but its only $20 more....go for the 512.

The X1000 SERIES of cards that have 512mb is pointless as the bandwidth is chocked as its bandwidth is only 128mb so you wont get a noticeable advantage with having 512mb as that card cant utilize it.

so the bandwidth limits it from utilizing all the memory and that i should get the 256. is it better than 6600gt 128 mb gddr3?

Yes the bandwidth heavily limits it so it cant utilize that memory at any one time so if you wish to save some dosh get the 256 DDR3 and yes it is better than the above card.
