EDIT: Just a small bump to recognize the sale on Newegg.

Hey everybody, this shouldn't take too long.

For the Seagate, the more I research, the more it seems like it has a noise problem...doesn't surprise me, because the Seagate I have in this desktop right now is decently loud.

I prefer WD for this kind of stuff, but that's not an option. I have heard that Hitatchi does make solid drives (not in the SSD way), and since the laptop will be plugged into the wall the whole time, the increased power consumption shouldn't matter.

So I'm leaning towards the Hitachi. Does anybody have any personal experience with either?

Thanks in advance.

I'd rather sacrifice noise for better performance. I'm liking the Seagate. Should do you good. And there is no guarantee that it'll make noises.

Well hm, I poked around a bit on Google, and it seems that the clicking noise and everything is more rampant than I thought.

And from a post on that thread, the Hitachi seems to have a slight upper-hand with the speed: http://forum.notebookreview.com/show...postcount=1576

Guess it's the Hitachi for me in a few days.

Just a small bump, because the Hitachi hard drive is now on sale, from $119.99 to $79.99.
